Kermit, Linger, and other Green Things

So today while I was trying very hard to concentrate on Secret Project, UPS delivered a very early, finished copy of LINGER. There are not really many of these in existence, and I'm pretty sure this one was stolen off Editor MixTape's desk while he was in New Zealand (which is only fair. He is in New Zealand. He doesn't need this. I do.)

Anyway, it is pretty stinkin' gorgeous. And, to answer the question I have gotten hundreds of times, yes. The ink is green.

So I whipped out my camera to do some selective focus evidential photography. And here it is. Ooooooh the pretty? Yes. The pretty.

The Green Text of Linger

Ooooh, beautiful! But why green? Will it be on bookshelves that way or is that just for you?
Congrats!

I must have been so blind, or else just really caught up in your story, because I didn't notice the ink was blue until someone pointed it out to me. Duh! It was so cool, and that green ink is VERY pretty :)

I am abnormally excited about the green ink! Like, I may have to buy two copies and display both the cover and the interior on my bookshelf.

Loving the colored ink. I thought that was awesome in Shiver and I'm glad to see it continue in Linger.

My only question? What's the color for Forever? There really aren't that many font friendly colors and two of them have been used so far. (Red, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Purple, Brown, Black)

Definitely green for all finished U.S. copies. (possibly Australia, too, because they use the U.S. design, I think). And green to match the cover, Jamie!

I don't know, Jess, what color they'll go for with FOREVER . . . I have my picks . . .

Since they're matching the ink with the color I guess maybe that'll be answered once we see the cover for FOREVER. :)

OMGGGGG... I can't frigging wait. And NO Faith, you were NOT the only one =P! I'm obsessed with the color blue and getting a book with a blue cover and blue ink was just fuel for me to LOVE Shiver even more :D!

Maggie Stiefvater said...

*grin* No, I have no idea of what FOREVER will be yet.

That's so cool! I loved the blue font in shiver and I think the green will be even cooler because it is so noticeable! I cannot wait to read linger and to see what color Forever will be!!!

GASP. You are terrible with teasing us like this. :P (I didn't know the ink was going to be green, and I'm ashamed that I didn't notice the blue ink for Shiver. Huh.) Either way, that is a very nice photograph for a very nice book.

As for the third book -- Forever should be red -- or gold! :) (I know you don't have control over such things, but I thought I'd give a shout-out for those colors anyway. Shiver was blue, and that fit because of the "winter" feel. Linger is green, and that makes me think of feelings "growing" and "taking root" like spring. Forever -- well, forever makes me think of love, of course, first and foremost -- and red is the conventional color for love, especially the undying, eternal kind. Gold would be good because it would match Sam's eyes, though! Also, red OR gold could fit summer OR autumn, thus continuing the "season" theme. :P)

Okay, I'm done yammering. I will now just squint at the picture and try to read the few words I can from Cole's POV. . . XD

Hee hee. I like the idea of red or purple as well, myself.
