Images from The Raven Boys Trailer

This past week, I've begun work in earnest on my book trailer for The Raven Boys. This one's exciting and terrifying because I'm a) returning to my artistic roots, colored pencil (as you can see, this used to be a Thing for Me), and b) because I'm doing more traditional animation, which means way more frames than ever before. Here are a few sneak stills from the trailer so far:

Blue, for The Raven Boys Trailer
Hunting for Clues
Three Card Tarot
Blue Profile for The Raven Boys Trailer
Skull Head from The Raven Boys

I've already accidentally eaten a big swath of paint off my desk with my natural turpenoid. Oh, it feels good to be making art again.

As always, you can find out more about The Raven Boys on my site.

Oh for the love of . . . folks, those of you who just had comments eaten by the monster in the sky, know that I'm fixing the problem for future blog posts, although I can't fix it on this current one. It's a bug with IntenseDebate, the comment service that allowed them to be threaded so I could answer them individually.

Love! That last one is deliciously creepy. Can't wait to see the trailer. When do you think it'll be ready for our viewing pleasure?

Could you BE any more talented?! I do wish you'd make your own bookmarks though i.e. that beautiful Shiver drawing you did ages ago for Shiver and you could do one for each book you write. Would only take you what, 5 minutes? ;)

I just wanted to take this oppurtunity to tell you that Blue's hair (I think that's Blue!) is gorgeous. I love how you don't make the mistake of using only black in her hair, but different shades of colors, keeping it from becoming flat. Just lovely. I'm so psyched. :D

How long does it take you to do a still? It looks like it'd take you a couple of hours for each one, at least.

Whoa. That's colored pencil? I mean, dang, every time I used colored pencils for anything, it basically looks how it did when I was six, except I'm better at coloring in the lines now. You should print those out and make a collage on one of your walls: your storyboard. xD

(On a completely unrelated note, I'm sad that The Raven Boys comes out in September because that's when the new school year starts and I'll be juggling four APs and won't be able to read anything except my textbooks.)

Those have so much detail, they're beautiful. I can't wait to see the finished product and also what the music will sound like.

*swoon* I love this.

Can you be any more talented?

Ahh, thanks, guys! Erika, it depends on the level of detail for a still. Blue's or Gansey's faces, for instance, would only take 35-45 minutes. But the tarot cards took nearly 3 hours.
